A Wintery, Musical Experience!
All Roguewood 5th Graders will be attending a special RHS Collage Concert on Thursday, December 12 at 9:30 am.
This is an in-school experience facilitated by RHS Music Department, Students will walk over to RHS with their classroom teachers/Mrs. Rito and then return to RGW. In bringing back this beloved tradition, we hope it will guide students to making a more informed choice as they prepare for Middle School Music!
As all Rockford 5th Graders have been invited to attend, there is no space for parents to join in this specific experience. Please check out tickets for the evening collage concerts on December 11 & 12 if you would like to attend!

Hoops for Haiti
We will be starting our basketball unit, students have the opportunity to participate in a “Shoot-a-thon” during PE class benefitting the Haiti Foundation Against Poverty (HFAP). Participants will get pledges from family and friends, the pledge sheet (also attached) will go home with them the week of December 2nd when they have PE class.
Please return the pledge sheet to school the week of December 9th. The Shoot-a-thon will also be the week of December 9th during your child’s PE class. During the actual “Shoot-a-thon”, participants will have ONE MINUTE to make as many baskets as possible (basket height/ball type to be determined by age/grade). At the end of that minute, participants will document the number of baskets made on their pledge sheets. They will bring their pledge sheets back home and seek payment from those that pledged their support and return to school no later than Friday, December 20th.
Participants that raise the most money at each grade level will receive a Hoops for Haiti t-shirt. The highest fundraiser at each school will have a goat named after him/her and donated on his/her behalf to a family in Haiti. Thanks so much for your support! Aside from Roguewood's fundraiser there will also be a lot of fun events on Friday, January 10th during the Girls and Boys Varsity basketball game.

Girls on the Run
Registration December 1 - December 12, 2024
Registration opens on December 1 and runs through December 12. This years theme is "Hello, Mountain Mover!" Register HERE
This year’s season starts 2/24/25 and runs through 5/17/25. Practices will take place on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:40-5:00p.m. The program is offered to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls. Registration opens in December—look for more info to come!
This year’s Girls on the Run theme is Hello, Mountain Mover! In addition to being active and training for a 5k at the end of the season, girls will learn to activate their “I Can! Power” – the confidence to believe in themselves and their ability to do hard things.
We also help participants recognize that we all have different kinds of “hard” – maybe completing a 5K, raising a hand in class, or making a brand-new friend. Girls learn that every team member’s mountain is not the same.
Coaches Needed
In order to offer this program we need volunteer coaches! By coach I mean someone who can motivate, inspire and empower — not necessarily someone who is athletic (although we will take those coaches too!) You’ll be at practices leading the girls though development excerises in addition to physical exercises. Training will be provided by Girls on the Run West Michigan.
Please reach out to me with questions at roguewoodGOTR@gmail.com
I guarantee you’ll come to love the program (and you’ll truly impact these girls’ lives!)
