Welcome to Early Childhood Special Education Programs and Services
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) services include special instruction and related services provided to young children, ages three through five, who qualify under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA, Part B, Section 619). Rockford Public Schools offer ECSE programs and services to ensure the provision of a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) to all eligible children at no cost to their families.
Programs & Services
Rockford Public Schools Offers the following programs and services:
Outpatient Services: This service is provided for children requiring speech, physical or occupational therapy as a direct service.
Supported Speech Program (SSG): This program is provided for children requiring speech services. Students attend the program twice a week for 1.5 hours each day.
Supported Independent Program (SIP): This program is provided for children requiring speech services. Students attend the program two times a week for 3 hours each day.
Early Childhood Special Education Program (ECSE): This program is provided for children requiring services for speech, cognitive, and other development delay needs. In addition students may also require services such as social work, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. Students attend the program 4 days a week for 3 hours each day.
