Drop Off / Pick Up Procedures

Drop Off Procedures

The below steps are to make sure that student drop off is safe and efficient. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Please know that student drop off starts at 8:25 a.m. 

• Our drop off and pick up lot is to the left of the building (south) which is the Saddle Ridge side.
• Our bus drop off zone is to the right of the building (north).
• The Drop Off door is #7.
• Families of Saddle Ridge students will enter the area from the neighborhood and will exit onto Edgerton Ave.
• All other vehicles will enter and exit the drop off and pick up lot from Edgerton Ave.  Please follow the directional signage. It is not possible to access the Saddle Ridge entrance from the north side of the building. The road is intentionally designed to be accessed only when heading east from the neighborhood.
• ALL exiting traffic from drop offs will exit onto Edgerton Ave. Please follow directional signage.
• Paraprofessionals will be in the parking lot letting drivers know when students can enter the building. 
• Please have your student ready to go when you pull up to the drop off. As soon as you are in the circle your student can exit your car. You will notice a drop off zone that will be marked with cones.
• Please stay in your car.  If your student cannot open the door we can assist. We appreciate your help in making your goodbyes quick and for staying in your vehicle at all times.
• The front doors near the office cannot be used as a drop off and will not be staffed during morning arrival with paraprofessionals. Please use this drop off only for picking up or dropping off during the school day.
• Late arrivals will need to be dropped off with a parent escort and check in at the office.

Walkers

• Any student that walks to school should enter using Door #7. This is the same door that students that are dropped off use. Students should stay on the sidewalk at all times and not walk through the parking lots. 
• Parents that come to meet their student that is walking should meet near the bike rack. We will have a sign denoting this is the meeting area. 
• As walking to school is new for many students, parents should practice the path and remind students about staying on the sidewalks.  Parent or adult supervision the first few weeks is suggested.

Pick Up Procedures

• All Parent Pick Up students will leave out of Door #7. This is the same door that students enter for Drop Off in the morning.
• The Pick Up lane has two lanes for traffic.
  • We will use the lane closest to the school for students entering and exiting vehicles and the outer lane can be used to pull out once your student has been picked up.
• There will be a pick up and drop off zone clearly marked by cones. Just as with drop off, once your vehicle is in the zone marked by cones, students can enter your vehicle.
• Parents are asked to stay in their car.
• Have your name plate visible in your front or side window. If you need more name plates let the office know.
• The first days of school can be bumpy during drop off and pick up, so please be patient and coach your student on their role to help the process run smoothly.
